Why the Democrats need to win.

Tagged:

Listening to the debate last Thursday and the Sunday talk shows today, it suddenly became very clear to me why the Democrats need to win this election.

First, we are finally winning in Iraq. That is unacceptable. We need to immediately pull the troops out so that we can send them into Darfur, Afghanistan and Pakistan, to rebuild those countries and create Democracies there. We simply chose the wrong war. Iraq should have remained under the control of Saddam Hussein who was a peaceful man and posed no threat to his neighbors or to the world in terms of weapons of mass destruction.

Change we can't believe in.

Barack Obama speaks passionately about something called "economic justice." He uses the term obliquely, though, speaking in code, socialist code. The following editorial from Investor’s Business Daily is an excellent outline of Obama’s “Change” platform. Barack Obama's Stealth Socialism

“We cannot stand four more years of this!”

In his first speech as the Democrat VP candidate, Biden said, " We cannot stand four more years of this!" I agree completely.

We cannot stand four more years of Obama, Biden, Pelosi and Reid!

We cannot stand four more years of not drilling for our own oil!

We cannot stand four more years of blocking the appointment of Judges who don't believe in legislating from the Bench!

We cannot stand four more years of claims that we have lost in Iraq!

We cannot stand four more years of plans for higher taxes on the American people!

Should we raise taxes on the rich, again?

This morning on a local talk station, a black business owner called in and said that he is extremely concerned about Obama’s plan for tax increases on the rich. He said, “I’ve worked hard all these years and finally own my own business and am proud to be making over $250,000. I don’t think it’s fair that I fork over a big portion of my income to Obama and the Democrats to pay for health care for everyone.”

Obama, The greatest story never told?

The Times (UK) July 25, 2008, Gerard Baker.

"And it came to pass, in the eighth year of the reign of the evil Bush the Younger (The Ignorant), when the whole land from the Arabian desert to the shores of the Great Lakes had been laid barren, that a Child appeared in the wilderness.

What about Obama?

One phrase jumped out at me in Obama’s speech in Berlin today. He said, "I know that I don’t look like the Americans who’ve previously spoken in this great city."

What happened to "gravitas?"

Promoted by Steven-

When President Bush ran for president the first time, the word “gravitas” was used by the entire media to refer to what they perceived as his lack of experience and substance.

"Gravitas" was even chosen as the word of the day on March14th, 2000.
word of the day
Why haven’t we heard the word again in this campaign? Senator McCain has plenty of gravitas and Senator Obama has very little of it.

Until we meet again.

I've been watching and reading all of the tributes to Tony Snow yesterday and today. My heart was so heavy when I first heard that he was gone. Like everyone, I loved him.

Tony had everything: good looks, charm, wit, humor, intelligence, glamor, talent...yet while watching the tributes to Tony yesterday and then today on Fox News Sunday, it was clear that he possessed two other attributes that are rare today. He was loyal and optimistic.

Conservatives for Obama.

"I’m a conservative and I'm voting for Obama. I want to teach the Republican Party a lesson." I'm hearing more and more of this nonsense every day. The reasons that conservatives give for this movement are not new.

As long as I can remember, conservatives have been fighting with the GOP. When they don't get their way, the remedy has been to sit out, vote for a Third Party (example Perot) or vote for the Democrats.

Have these practices worked? Yes, they gave control of the House and Senate to Democrats for 40 + years. They got Carter elected once and Clinton elected twice.
