Post Under: President Obama In November

In perusing the web this morning, I came across this headline, Obama's Campaign Admits Obama is a Muslim!!!!! My first thought was that I had somehow missed an important news story. So, I clicked on the site.

There I learned that during David Axelrod's August 1 appearance on Good Morning America, during which he "did" admit that Sen Obama had brought up the issue of race with his comments about not looking like the other presidents on the dollar bill, he also admitted that Sen Obama is a Muslim.

According to the quote on that website, Axelrod said:

Quote:

"Obama is not your typical Washington insider. He’s not from central casting when it comes to candidates for president of the United States. He’s new to Washington. Yes, he’s African American half black Kenyan. A Muslim who is also half Hawaiian Christian white-boy."

What has been widely reported throughout the media and the internet is:

Quote:

Obama is not your typical Washington insider. He’s not from central casting when it comes to candidates for president of the United States. He’s new to Washington. Yes, he’s African American."

Quite a difference there. If Axelrod had indeed gone on to say "...half black Kenyan. A Muslim who is also half Hawaiian Christian white-boy," that would have been a gaffe worthy of widespread coverage.

The article on that site went on to claim that the link to Good Morning America is no longer available, and that the last two pages of the transcript from that program have also been scrubbed from the ABC website. A cover up and a Mainstream Media Conspiracy. What could possibly be better for Conservatives who just KNOW that the MSM is in the tank for Obama.

The only trouble is: IT IS ALL A LIE!

The link to the ABC Good Morning America broadcast is available; it took me about five minutes of Yahoo searching to find. Watching that link, I discovered that the words of Axelrod as widely reported were accurate. Examination of that tape discloses NO editing -- no attempt to hide his words. He did admit that Sen Obama interjected race into the discussion by mentioning that he "didn't look like those other presidents on those dollar bills."

Axelrod pointed out that Sen Obama is an African-American. Period!

Not content to merely spread a lie, however, the website continues in the comments section to add weight to the lie. A poster calling himself John 2000 pointed out that he could only find one other reference to the "Muslim" comment by Axelrod. The quote as he explained was:

Quote:

"He’s not from central casting when it comes to candidates for president of the United States. He’s new to Washington. Yes, he’s African-American half black Kenyan-Muslim and half Hawaiian Christian white-boy."

And the website that he links to would "appear" to be the Fort Wayne News -- a respected newspaper. Wow, a respected newspaper was not captured by the MSM and was willing to tell the truth about Sen Obama.

The only problem is, that is NOT a respected newspaper, but a HATE site called ANGRYWHITEBOYS.ORG masquerading as a news site.

Either John 2000 has been duped by a hate site into believing that he had confirmation of Axelrod's words, or he is a part of the duplicity. Regardless of the answer to that question, both sites are propagating a lie.

Now, I do not have to tell the readers of TMR/THSR that I am not in any way a supporter of Sen Obama. I believe him to be one of the most dangerous presidential candidates ever nominated by either major political party.

Sen Obama is a Marxist/Socialist, nurtured from childhood in the blame-America-first tradition of his parents and teachers. As a child he was mentored by a know Communist in Hawaii, sought out in college Marxist professors and friends, and immersed himself as an adult in "Black Liberation Theology" from a minster who hates white America.

However, when "conservatives" on the internet perpetrate a hoax to damage the Democratic nominee, they are in fact damaging their own side in the political debate. It almost calls into question the motivation of the perpetrators -- but that would be a conspiracy -- and I choose not to go there.

and this kind of stupidity earns a special kind of white-hot contempt. There are a lot of real reasons to dislike and work against Senator Obama. We don’t need to make stuff up. It’s all there already.

These hacks are going to get labeled as mainstream conservatives by O and the MSM. That pisses me off.

We all get tarred with the same brush if this type of ignorance is not exposed -- and exposed by OUR side first.

TMR and Redstate have enough weight in Google and Yahoo search engines to guarantee that we will come up very high in any search of this issue. By coming out strongly against this type of stupidity we demonstrate our own honesty on the issues.

If the left publicizes it first as a GOTCHA against us, we look weak when we do disown the clowns who purvey this krap!

Whatever you or any other conservative does is not going to change the radical left. There are those who will tar with a broad brush as EVIL anybody who does not conform to their political beliefs. They will be aided by the drive-by media to frame the narrative however they wish to frame it.

The bottom line is that you do good when you expose this for what it is, and you don't need to hold your breath until the left acknowledges your good work. I think you'd turn blue first before receiving kudos from them.

Like in the link I gave to the Next Right the other day, the guy is a sleaze of the highest order. He shouldn’t be the mouth piece for the movement.

They try to frame the narrative of a conspiracy of Corsi with Bush/Cheney/McCain, and it is so laughable because Corsi is completely opposite of these Republicans with all of his conspiratorial articles about a North America Union plot by Bush/Cheney to destroy the USA. Oh yeah, Corsi is one of us. Riiiiiiiight. HAHAHA

Yes it is absurd and indeed damages our cause for blogs to make up stories. Great work finding shutting down that sort of crap.

On the other hand you might want to step back a bit and understand that while Obama may say he has always been a Christian it ain't necessarily so. Daniel Pipes does a good job of explaining it and I covered all the arguments on my blog if you are interested.

attended Lutheran services with my Grandmother. I was never a Lutheran -- but I enjoyed being there in Church with my Grandmother. I liked the music, even if I found it hard sometimes to follow along -- they didn't always sing all of the verses.

Later, I attended services with my Aunt, who was a Baptist. Again, I enjoyed being with my aunt in church.

Over the many years I have attended many different denominations -- even Catholic services with friends.

I hardly think that all of those different denominations would consider me apostate because I no longer attend their churches.

Daniel Pipes is quite probably right, Obama did occasionally attend the Mosque with his stepfather -- that does not make him a Muslim.

As I said, let's beat this guy like a rented mule based on the issues!

Let me quote extensively from my own blog.

The hoax being that Barack is a Muslim. But what if he is? Not by choice but by technicality? I give you snippet from an excellent article by Daniel Pipes. Pay attention in particular to the highlighted text in bold.

Does any of the above information from the Chicago Tribune article refute my analysis, as MMfA contends? It raises questions about two details in the Los Angeles Times account (the accuracy of the Catholic school’s registration form and the reliability of Zulfan Adi as a source on Obama). But on the larger issue of Obama’s religious practices during his Jakarta years, it confirms the Times account. Note in particular three excerpts from Barker’s article:

“Interviews with dozens of former classmates, teachers, neighbors and friends show that Obama was not a regular practicing Muslim when he was in Indonesia” – implying he was an irregularly practicing Muslim.
“Obama occasionally followed his stepfather to the mosque for Friday prayers, a few neighbors said” – confirming that he did pray in the mosque.
“Obama’s 3rd-grade teacher at the Catholic school, who lived near the family [said that] ‘Rarely, Barry went to the mosque with Lolo’” – confirming that Obama attended mosque services.
All this matters, for if Obama once was a Muslim, he is now what Islamic law calls a murtadd (apostate), an ex-Muslim converted to another religion who must be executed. Were he elected president of the United States, this status, clearly, would have large potential implications for his relationship with the Muslim world.

In sum: Obama was an irregularly practicing Muslim who rarely or occasionally prayed with his step-father in a mosque. This precisely substantiates my statement that he “for some years had a reasonably Muslim upbringing under the auspices of his Indonesian step-father.”

Why do technicalities matter? Because Barack was so adamant about never being a Muslim all of this calls into question his integrity…he is supposed to be different. eh? From Daniel Pipes again.

As Barack Obama’s candidacy comes under increasing scrutiny, his account of his religious upbringing deserves careful attention for what it tells us about the candidate’s integrity.

Obama asserted in December, “I’ve always been a Christian,” and he has adamantly denied ever having been a Muslim. “The only connection I’ve had to Islam is that my grandfather on my father’s side came from that country [Kenya]. But I’ve never practiced Islam.” In February, he claimed: “I have never been a Muslim. … other than my name and the fact that I lived in a populous Muslim country for 4 years when I was a child [Indonesia, 1967-71] I have very little connection to the Islamic religion.”

Daniel Pipes is quite probably right, Obama did occasionally attend the Mosque with his stepfather -- that does not make him a Muslim. As I said, let's beat this guy like a rented mule based on the issues!

Terribly sorry but you may not understand what it takes to be a Muslim. And yes indeed let us beat this guy like a rented mule on the issues. And ONE of those issues is his penchant for lying about his past. Actually that may be the biggest issue of all...what the hell is this guy hiding. Papers detailing his dealings with Ayers being withheld by Universities, out right lying about Wright and now this...yes let us beat him on the issues. But first we have to smoke him out on all of the issues...such as his lying.

It's true, according to the standard you and Pipes are applying. Muslims believe that every human being is born a Muslim--it's the default mode. You have to choose some other path--stray into error--to stop being one.

David is dead right on this one--on the merits, that is. In terms of tactics, it is probably true that keeping the Muslim canard alive will help to defeat Obama in November. Conservatives have to make a choice as to whether winning that way is worth the cost to our principles.
